Space to talk in confidence
Hi, I’m Jo. I’m a Counsellor, Therapist, Supervisor, and proud dog owner. I love gardening, creating art, and baking cakes in my spare time.
Life experience makes you who you are: individual and unique, but life’s challenges change you and move you in a different direction, whether through choice, necessity or plan. These changes can alter your perspective, and you may find yourself questioning your “Why”.
At Jo Grigg Therapy, I offer a compassionate, confidential, and relaxed space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, or simply seeking a safe place to be yourself, I’m here to provide that support and understand your needs.
Life can get overwhelming, and it’s easy to forget to take care of yourself. When we push our emotions aside, it can lead to stress, confusion, and even physical health issues. Prioritising your mental well-being isn’t always easy, but it’s a crucial step toward healing and growth.
I take an integrative approach to therapy, combining Person-Centred Counselling with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help you understand and challenge negative thoughts and behaviours. My goal is to meet you where you are and support you in making changes toward better mental health.
If you're ready to take that first step, I’m here to help guide and support you through it - every step of the way.
We understand that life can be busy, and it's not always easy to make it to face-to-face therapy sessions. That's why we offer online/telephone sessions that allow you to connect with me from the comfort of your own home. These sessions are secure, private, and convenient.
Please contact me by email or telephone to arrange a 30-minute consultation, where we can discuss your concerns in more detail and how I can best support you. I assure you that everything we discuss will remain private and confidential.
I offer various options for sessions, including face to face, online sessions through Zoom, or telephone appointments. Please let me know which option works best for you.
In order to provide the most effective support, I will begin with a brief assessment to better understand your needs and goals. This will allow me to establish a clear contract for our services, ensuring that we are working towards the desired outcomes.
Our sessions typically take place weekly, with a review after 6 weeks. Whether you prefer long or short-term therapy, we can discuss the approach to sit your individual requirements.
During our 50 minutes sessions, I offer the space to explore your feelings and concerns, enabling you to identify and note changes. I am committed during this process to help you achieve those goals.
Person centred therapy (PCT) focuses on your concerns and worries, allowing you to lead the sessions to make sense of your feelings. This approach aims to create a safe and non-judgemental environment for you to explore and understand yourself better.
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which is widely used by the NHS, can be incorporated to actively involve you in your own progress. If you find that you are stuck in a cycle of anxiety or face ongoing problems, we can explore how you might change your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to achieve a different outcome.
Psychodynamic therapy can also be used to gain a clearer understanding of why you behave as you do in certain situations. This approach can help you explore and address beliefs that you may have learnt in the past and identify strategies to make positive changes.
By combining these approaches to your specific needs, it allows you to gain insight and ultimately change unhelpful patterns.
